Today, my kids and I participated with lots of enthusiasm, during our jeans day,  organized by Teacher Medardo, a Social Studies Teacher.

Teacher Medardo and a group of students visited a Scientific Center located in a town called San Antero, in Córdoba, in order to meet a group of scientists who are dedicated to study and protect the different varieties of wild species found in the region.

In the middle of their visit, Teacher medardo and his students witnessed how the members of the scientific team rescued a baby manatee, who was caught in a fisher´s net.

We wanted to participate today, designing T shirts at home, with our parents´ help, to show others our concern about nature and how important it is to help animals to survive.

I want to share with your these beautiful pictures of my kids. This is a meaninful activity for everyone!

Love,

Teacher Yela

Last week, I had to travel to Bogota  for a day, and I needed to leave a Science activity for my students. Linda Cielo, our spanish teacher, was in charge.

In the science book, I found an interesting activity that integrated arts and science, while studying properties of different kinds of solids. The students will make a piece of art, using different kinds of objects.

My kids used different textures and elements. Suiddenly, I found oceans, houses, farms and gardens.

Learning science exploring with our senses is a meaninful way of develop scientific competences. Gioving the children the possibilty to create, gives them confidence and show them the importance of thier very own work.

A group of students took the work home. Some parents help with this piece of art, having fun and learning together, all at the sasme time!

I will post the pictures tomorrow. I am very proud of their work.

See you tomorrow!

During the fourth bimester, our class has studied the physical properties of object, and the states of matter.

We had a really nice activity this morning. Each student had to bring five solid objects: one made of wood, another of metal, plastic, rocks, leaves, and types of food.

Then, we spread the objects all over the classroom. We created our own planet, full of different objects that we needed to clasificate.

In groups of 5 students we separated the different types of solids, and made several classifications, by color, size, weight, and use.

The kids were very fast as classifiers! we discussed four and even five ways of classifiyng the same set of objects, by observing their physical properties.
